His children are Mohamed Rawji, Hussain Rawji, Sugra Haji, Fatma Premji, Sherbanu Alibhai  and Khairun Haji (all deceased). Marhuma Fatmabai Premji and Marhuma Khairunbai Haji used to teach Quran to children in Dar es Salaam. Popatbhai passed away on June 28, 1962 and is buried at Dar es Salaam KSIJ Cemetery.

The new Imambara in Dar was built following efforts by Br Gulamhussein Virji who called upon the community for financial contributions. The first donors were Versi Advani, Rajabali Alidina, Alibhai Ebrahim, Daya Walji and Suleman Daya.
