Community Services
Mustafa bhai's impact within the Mombasa Jamaat was profound. His selflessness extended notably to young couples, where he took it upon himself to meticulously organize their wedding ceremonies, even stepping into the role of a 'best man' for several grooms. This dedication exemplified his genuine care for others' happiness. His outreach extended beyond weddings, particularly during the challenging times of the early 90s. He played a pivotal role in aiding the displaced members of Mogadishu Jamaat during their relocation to Kenya, a testament to his spirit of solidarity and compassion. As an entrepreneur, he was the co-owner of Classic Collection, a renowned retail and fashion outlet of the 90s. Later, he transitioned to the second-hand clothing business, partnering with his brother.
In 1990, he married Rukhsana Allidina, and together, they were blessed with five children: Shahista, Nadeem, Fatema, Ali Hassan and Zainab. His tireless work ethic and kindness towards all earned him the revered title of Wafaa.
One of his remarkable contributions was his instrumental role in preparing both Hussaini and Hyderi Imambargahs and thereafter at JIC when they migrated in organizing Juloos processions during Muharram. His legacy continues and several members of the Alam & Tabut committee are students of his and continue to do his work with beautiful detail. An avid supporter of Anjumane Sakina, he would encourage young recitors in reciting eulogies (manqabats, marsiyas and nawha) by attending most of the practice sessions and fervently reciting with them from the crowd during the months of Azaa.
Following in his father's footsteps, he was a key volunteer in preparing Tea and Niyaz for Fajr Salaah attendees and Azadars of Imam Hussain at Mehfile Hussaini during Muharram and Iftar preparations in the Holy Month of Ramadhan. His devotion was reflected in the meticulous care he took in preparing special gifts for the 15th Shaban celebrations, demonstrating his profound commitment.
