Mulla Jaffer was the grand father of Al-Hajj Mulla Asgharali M. M. Jaffer. He was originally from Bhavnagar (Gujarat) and migrated to Zanzibar in 1900. Later, he went to Pangani in the Tanga region of Tanzania to teach Islamic Education. He passed away in 1918 whilst in Pangani and is buried there.
