It is with deep sadness that the [[Africa Federation]] Secretariat and the Tabligh Board (AFTAB) received the news of the sudden demise of Seyed Asad Jafri in Toronto Canada, on Sunday 29th October 2023 (13th Rabi-ul-Aakhar 1445). Marhum was buried at the Wadi-us-Salaam Cemetery in Toronto on Monday 30th October 2023.

====Brief Profile====
Seyed Asad Jafri was born and raised in Toronto and held a bachelor in IT and pursued his Hawza Studies in Qum in 2004 which earned him a bachelor’s degree in the field of Quranic Sciences and then obtained a master’s degree in Islamic Theology from the Islamic College in London.

He was the Director of the religious affairs of the As Sadiq Islamic School in Toronto until the time of his death and had also undertaken “live projects” in promoting the Qur’an and RSE curriculum for the MCE program of the Islamic Department of the World Federation.

====An Inspirational Islamic Scholar ====
Seyed Asad inspired the Shia youth and adult alike around the world including many of our member Jamaats in Africa with his humility, friendly demeanor, witty humor and relatable discussions gently advising the community through the teachings from the Holy Qur’an and the Ahlulbayt (‘A) to better ourselves and gain proximity to our Creator. A righteous and popular Islamic scholar is an irreplaceable treasure for a community. Seyed Asad left us too soon, but he taught us much good in his short time on earth. Imam Sadiq (‘A) tells us: ''' “The creatures on land and fish in the sea and every small and big creature in the skies and ground seek forgiveness for he who teaches the good.” '''

Marhum Seyed Asad was the son in law of the well-known scholar Sayed Zaki Baqri. He leaves behind his mother, wife, two daughters and a son.

====Message of Condolences from the Chairman of the Africa Federation Alhaj Amine Nassor====.

The news of the sad demise of Seyed Asad Mohammed Jafri on Sunday evening (Eastern Africa Time) was received with shock and disbelief by many members.The large turnout of people for his funeral on Monday 30th October 2023 in Toronto and the outpour of messages of condolences and remembrance posted on different social media platforms over the past two days following the news of his death is a testimony of how he had touched a number of lives around the globe during his lifetime through his lectures, wisdom and humble personality. His death is a big loss not only to his family but to the entire Community.

On behalf of AFED Office Bearers, Trustees and the Community in Africa, I extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to his mother, wife, children, siblings and all the family members for this great loss and may Allah (SWT) grant the family courage and patience to bear this bereavement. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Marhum’s family, the KSIJ Community in Toronto and the global Shia Community on this loss and strive that we as a community can keep his legacy alive by putting into action what he taught us.

* We pray to Allah (SWT) to grant Marhum maghferat and place his soul amongst the blessed ones in the vicinity of the Ahlulbayt (‘A) whom he humbly and diligently served and grant his family solace and patience during these difficult times, Ameen. We request for a Sura-Al-Fateha for Marhum Seyed Asad Jafri and all the Marhumeen.
