It is with great sadness that we received the news of the death of Alhaj Safdarali Akberali Jaffer which occurred on Sunday, 6th December 2015 in Allentown, USA, and buried on the same day.

Marhum Safdar bhai was born on 3rd June, 1948 in Newala –Tanzania and was brought up in Lindi. Marhum was an active social worker an active member of Lions Club he joined in 1979 serving in various capacities in Lions Club. The Club’s activities involved serving the needy and less fortunate local communities such as providing fresh water bore-holes in the villages, conducting eye camps and organizing treatment in India for children suffering from heart diseases under Lions Heart Project. Safdar bhai was a Melvin Jones Fellow and received numerous awards in recognition of his services, locally and internationally.

He served as the Chairman of the Central Health Board (CHB) from 2001 to 2004 during the tenure of Marhum Zulfikar Khimji, and also assisted Setwell, welfare committee of Africa Federation which dealt with the Somalia Khoja community affairs between 2002 and 2004. For many years, S. A. We are grateful to him and to his staff for their services rendered to our institution for these numbers of years.

We convey our heartfelt condolences to his wife Mumtaz bai, to his two sons, Mustafa and Murtaza, to his daughter Siddiqa bai and to the rest of the family members on this sad occasion of the passing away of Alhaj Safdar bhai. We pray to Allah (SWT) to grant them solace and strength to bear this huge loss in the family.

May Allah (swt) by His infinite grace and mercy bestow His blessings and grant maghferat upon Marhum and place his soul in the proximity of our Aeema-e-Tahireen (AS).
