Brief Profile

Lalan Alidina, based in Karachi in the second half of the nineteenth century, used to preach the tenets of the Qur’an and Ahlulbayt (as) and thus kindle the flame of guidance in the hearts of the Khojas of Karachi. Shaheed Lalan was brutally attacked in 1876 but this incident never deterred him from his passion of preaching the message of Ahlulbayt (as) through majalis of Imam Husayn (as). Accused of promulgating ‘innovations’, the preacher was shot in the broad daylight of Karachi in 1878 and his body was taken to Karbala for permanent burial. The Kharadar Khoja mosque and Imambargah in Karachi stand as a testimony to the profound contribution of the likes of Lalan Alidina.
